Served off the coast of Vietnam on the carrier Oriskany CVA-64 for one full tour 1967-68 and one partial tour in 69 before flying off the ship at the end my service in July 69. I have a form of Leukemia (CLL). Just filed claim with VA and they have officially denied me – stating “No record of service in Vietnam” and also stating that I need to explicitly prove I was exposed to keep my case open. My DD214 clearly shows the service – are they using the boots on the ground argument or are they really denying that I served off the coast? Any ideas of how to pursue this? Good Luck to all. Mark. P.S. Just signed up for Google Alerts where Google emails you search results daily or weekly. If interested go to http://www.google.com/alerts and search terms “agent orange blue water”
