I am a Navy veteran and was based in Vinh Long 67-68, with the Seawolves. The following is from the VA Agent Orange Registry Document: Any veteran, male or female, who had active military service in the Republic of Vietnam between 1962 and 1975, and expresses a concern relating to exposure to herbicides, may participate in the Registry. Eligible veterans who want to participate in this program should contact the nearest VA medical facility for an appointment. A veteran who did not serve in Vietnam is not eligible for the Agent Orange Registry examination unless he or she (1) served in Korea in 1968 or 1969, or (2) was exposed to Agent Orange or other herbicides during the testing, transportation, or spraying of these herbicides for military purpose. The spouses and children of veterans are not eligible for this examination. The Air Force did a study of Operation Ranch Hand personnel, (those who flew the spray missions, including personnel that handled and stored the chemicals and those who maintained the equipment) Information on the Ranch Hand personnel is available on the web. Additionally, Defoliants were sprayed by helicopter, and from Navy ships and boats in the rivers and possibly offshore. The VA lists a number of links informational sites at the following link. http://www1.va.gov/agentorange/docs/D1AOBRIEF82003A.doc Spray areas can be found at http://cybersarges.tripod.com/aosprayeda.html We have an AO information package available on request. Seawolves' Agent Orange Relief Effort Foundation. We have info for vetertans and the AO registry and another for children of veterans, (birth defects due to AO exposure of the veteran parent), For additional info, contact me at seawolves@cox.net.
