My brother is a veteran of the 611th Trans during 1968-69 and was diagnosed with PTSD. The VA doesn't want to recognize his disorder unless he can prove someone from his unit will verify that he was under fire. He has a declaration and diagnosis from his doctor, but cannot proceed to claim veterans benefits for this disorder unless he can provide evidence as to how often his unit was attacked and what the casualties were. I am planning to write to his congressman and senator regarding this requirement. Surely the Army has the records and can speak to that requirement. I do not feel, nor does he, that he should have do the research since he does not have the resources. Nor can he remember. His memory is one of the results of the PTSD. I think it is unfair to ask a veteran who has served to come up with that type of information. What do you think?
