2. I have a few photographs of the Delta
area, how can I get them to you to use on the site?
If you have a scanner or know someone that can scan them for you, just
Email them to me, jwm@suddenlink.net
, as an Email attachment with a small text statement to be used
on the site next to the photograph.
A few people have gone through stores like Wal Mart and had
their photos copied
Or, I can scan a few photos for you, but please send them to me
by a traceable
means. It may take a few weeks for me to scan them and have them on
their way back to you.
3. What size of picture is needed for
the site? I normally post a
small thumbnail picture with the largest dimension being 150 pixels,
linking to a larger picture with the largest dimension being about 550
pixels.
If at all possible I would like to receive the pictures over
550 pixels. If the pictures can be improved by me by editing out
spots, scratches or by de yellowing or rotating, then I do so if time
permits. If I can receive them
larger than 550 pixels it makes it easier for me to work with for
these edits.
3. What graphic file format should I
send the picture to you in to work best?
The .JPG format works fine if the graphic program creating them is not
set for maximum compression. The .JPG compression distorts the
picture and smears the color if set to high. For black and white
picture the grayscale .GIF format works fine. The .GIF format
consists of only 256 color or shades of gray. For color
pictures, the .PNG format (Portable Network Graphic) works fine
too. In fact that is the format I keep all my quality master
copies of graphics in, because it does not distort and smear like the .JPG
format.
Black and White pictures - .GIF or low
compression .JPG
Color pictures - .PNG or low compression .JPG
But, the bottom line is, I
will be happy with what I can get from you guys to be shared with the
others.
