1. Photo is of an enameled Can Tho Dispensary insignia pin, taken in the
U S Army Medical Museum at Ft Sam Houston, TX.

The design for the insignia was done by Joe Ohnstad, NCOIC of the medical unit.
The dispensary unit was made up of the medical sections of three separate units.
Joe had also used the " Best By Test, Above the Rest" for a dispensary in Ft Lewis just before he left for Vietnam too.

19. This picture was taken about March 3, 1963. We did not use
a Distinctive Insignia or crest, just the crossed flags w/39th.
Some had baseball caps with the flags/39th on them, and some had tabs w/39th SIGNAL
BN. Most wore nothing on the uniform at all. But the
day I left, about 03/04/63, we had to have sewn on the RYUKUS Command patch and the
Armed Forces Expedition ribbon.

24. The 78th Field Artillery Detachment was one of about 50 small
Target Acquisition Radar units stationed
around Vietnam.
The 78th was located in SocTrang and reported to the 13th CAB during
Dwight's tour. After they were overrun
during the 1968 Tet offensive, the 78th
relocated to CanTho and became part of
